We will never ask you for

• Your Secret Recovery Phrase or wallet password.
• Your Steam password, Steam Guard codes or Steam Web API key.
• To send items or crypto outside the ChainSkins trade flow.
• To “verify” your account by sending a small payment.

If someone does, it’s a scam — even if they use our name or logo.

Common scams

Fake login pages

A link takes you to a page that looks like Steam or ChainSkins and asks you to log in. Logging in with Steam on ChainSkins always goes through steamcommunity.com — check the address before typing anything.

Steam API key scam

Scammers get your Steam Web API key and use it to cancel real trade offers and replace them with fake ones that look identical. Check yours at steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey: if there’s a key you didn’t create, revoke it and change your Steam password.

Fake support

Someone messages you on Steam or Discord pretending to be ChainSkins staff. Support only happens through the channels on our support page.

Fake extensions

Copies of the ChainSkins extension that steal your recovery phrase. Only install it from chainskins.net.

Before accepting any trade offer

• Check that it contains exactly the items you expect.
• Make sure you’re not giving away anything you didn’t intend to.
• Confirm it in the Steam app with Steam Guard only when everything matches.

Think you’ve been targeted?

Don’t accept or cancel anything, and contact support straight away with as much detail as you can.
