Buying on ChainSkins takes a few minutes. Your payment is locked in an on-chain escrow the moment you sign, and it’s only released to the seller after you’ve received the item and Steam’s 7-day trade protection has passed.
Before you start
- A Steam account to log in with.
- The ChainSkins extension with a wallet — see Set up the extension and your wallet.
- Funds in your wallet: XRP, or USDC / USDT on Solana.
- Your Steam trade link saved in your profile — see Set up your Steam trade link.
1. Log in with Steam
Go to chainskins.net and click Login with Steam. There’s no separate account or password.
2. Find the skin
Use the search (press / anywhere on the site) or browse the Market. Open a skin to see every listing with its price, float, pattern, stickers and charms, and the coins each seller accepts.
Tip: If the price is too high, use Bargain to send the seller an offer instead. If it’s declined, you can send a new one.
3. Click Buy and pick a coin
Click Buy on the listing you want, choose one of the coins the seller accepts (XRP, USDC or USDT), review the amount and confirm.
4. Wait for the seller to accept
The trade appears in Trades as Created. The seller has to accept it first. If they don’t accept within 30 minutes, you can cancel it.
5. Sign the contract
Once the seller accepts, click Sign Contract in Trades. The extension opens a Signature Request showing the amount to lock — check it and sign.
Your payment is now locked in escrow. Neither you, the seller nor ChainSkins can move it until the trade finishes.
6. Accept the Steam trade offer
The seller sends the item through Steam. When the trade shows Accept Trade, click it to open the offer in Steam and accept it.
Important: Before accepting, check that the offer contains exactly the item you bought and that you’re not giving anything away.
7. Done
The skin is in your inventory. The trade moves through Delivered and, after Steam’s 7-day trade protection, Settled — that’s when the escrow releases the payment to the seller.
You can follow every step in Trades: Created → Signed → Escrowed → Delivered → Settled.
Something went wrong?
